89% of the group saying it IS acceptable (the10%) are comprised of Psychologists.
11% of the group saying it IS NOT acceptable (the 90%) are comprised of Psychologists.
Put another way, of all Psychologists voting 45% say Yes to ‘social transitioning’ in schools 55% say No its not OK.
No statistical significance is claimed for many reasons (e.g. sample size, randomisation, self-selection, known view of questioner etc. etc.) but this result does little to dissolve my own concerns for my profession's attitude towards statutory guidance, legislative changes in the Equality Act etc. and above all the laws to ensure child protection and safeguarding !
They were answering this poll question:-
“If teaching staff on the Doctoral Programme in Educational Psychology (DEdPsych) Training course within the School of Psychology at Southampton University are promoting ‘social transitioning’* for gender-questioning children within compulsory educational settings does this seem acceptable?
* (e.g. insisting trans-identifying children are addressed by their preferred pronoun throughout their school; insisting trans-identifying girls i.e. boys can compete as girls in single-sex sports)
